Southern California’s ATS Rental Leader

An automatic transfer switch (ATS) is one of the most critical components of an emergency power system. The ATS ensures critical loads maintain power by transferring to an emergency power source when the utility power falls below preset limits.

However, like all industrial electrical equipment, ATSs can fail, experience technical issues, or simply require routine maintenance. An ideal solution for temporary downtime due to failures or maintenance repairs is to rent a temporary ATS.

EPC Electric provides temporary power to critically important facilities and beyond—never leaving a gap in meeting NFPA 110 requirements for life safety loads.

Rental ATS Applications: High-rises to Hospitals

EPC Electric regularly rents transfer switches to sites that need temporary or standby power, including even the most critically essential facilities which are all mandated to have Life Safety loads operational within 10 seconds.

Although we cover any building in need of a backup power supply (and they all do), most of  EPC’s rental transfer switch clients are facilities that have life safety requirements. For example, in facilities where large numbers of people can assemble—high-rise buildings, hotels, convention centers, hospitals, and many more—electrical requirements ensure the safety of all people in emergencies.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 101 Life Safety Code provides electrical safety requirements for the design and maintenance of buildings. Life safety electrical loads include exit signs, emergency egress lighting, alarm systems, ventilation, smoke control, fire pumps, and more. These life safety loads must be available within 10 seconds of losing power and continue operating if utility power remains out. Having a broken ATS does not exempt you from this critical responsibility.

The best thing you can do to avoid all too common “worst-case scenarios” is to embrace life safety codes and rent an ATS from EPC Electric. Lawsuits, fines, and potential harm are avoidable.

The Biggest and Best Fleet of ATS Rentals in Southern California

EPC Electric has the most extensive and diverse ATS rental inventory in the region. The majority of our ATS rental fleet are less than three (3) years old and are shop tested prior to the start of the rental agreement.

EPC’s ATSs features a 4-pole configuration, meaning most facilities can implement and benefit from it. It’s also rated “3R” by NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturer Association), meaning the equipment is constructed for indoor or outdoor use and can withstand dirt, dust, rain, sleet, or snow.

The EPC Electric ATS rental fleet features a range of amperage sizes, including 100, 150, 260, 400, 600, 800, 1200, and 3000. EPC also provides cables and cable ramps for the installation if required. We deliver and install ATS rentals within just one day, because safety should be timely!

Trust the Experts

Despite protecting critically essential facilities, automatic transfer switches are dangerous when not handled properly. Therefore, specialized training is required to install, modify, and maintain an ATS safely. At EPC Electric, we follow strict safety protocols to protect the wellbeing of our technicians, our client’s personnel, and the general public. We service all brands and types of emergency power systems, and our work adheres to the strict guidelines of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

Since 1984, Emergency Power Controls, Inc. has set the service standard for ensuring power to facilities like hospitals, military bases, data centers, and more. Clients rely on EPC for commercial and industrial-grade power systems. Your facility and the people within deserve the best.
